President of the Board of Directors and Executive Director:

Photo
Travis Metheny,
President
A graduate of Eastern Washington University with a degree in Literary Studies, Mr. Metheny is a self-diagnosed bibliophile with one of the largest collections of H. P. Lovecraft material in Eastern Washington. He is a 12-year veteran of the United States Air Force, and currently serves in the Washington Air National Guard and is a full-time Department of Defense Contractor living in Medical Lake, WA with his wife and two daughters.

At the age of seven he was electrocuted and began to have nocturnal complex partial seizures. His seizures were controlled with Dilantin and Tegretol and he only had recurrences when he missed a scheduled dose. At the age of 15, his neurologist decided to gradually reduce his medication in the hope that he could be seizure free and obtain his learner’s permit to drive. He did not have another “spell,” as his doctor always called them, and has been seizure free ever since.

Mr. Metheny serves on the board of directors of SERC out of gratitude that he was one of those who "grow out of" their seizure disorder. His brother, who tried to save him from the electrocution, was himself electrocuted and began to suffer similar complex partial seizures. His brother is still being treated for a seizure disorder.
